Thompson Valley Invitational
Saturday marked a highly successful day for Thompson Valley, winning the inaugural six-team tournament it hosted with four championship lines, two from singles and a pair from doubles.
Landon Lees at No. 2 singles and Adam Brubaker at No. 3 claimed tourney victories after Lees defeated his opponent 10-6, 9-11, 10-4 in an eight-game pro set round robin, a quick best two-out-of-three 10-point tie breaker tournament based on round robin results. Brubaker won 10-6, 10-6, while brothers owned the doubles show. Bailey and Brandon Hamrick won 10-1, 6-10, 10-5 at No. 2 doubles and Jared and Brody Kasprzak won 10-5, 10-8 at No. 3.
"Great win for our team. Obviously, getting the four tie-break championships proved the difference," TVHS coach Jay Klagge said. "Landon and Adam both played very well and were consistent throughout, and it was a good two days for each set of brothers. Tony got big pro set wins over both Poudre and Windsor at No. 1 singles, too, so everybody comes away with confidence going into the season. Our depth provided the difference."
Mountain View finished in last place with five points.
